Chapter 7 - colour and texture in stitch

I made some stich samples using the colour range of my source. As I had no machine available all of these samples are hand stitched.

I have grouped the colours on different patches. The top ones are both blue, the top one with more red in it. I think this is more harmonious than the second one.

The colours on the very light blue colour seem a bit dull.

On white they are 'just' colours.

I like the colours on the grey background, they seem very pure and deep.

The colours on a pink background - not a nice match I think

But on the dark green they look magnificent. I especially like the complementary green-bronze.

Different ways of grouping the colours.
From bottom up: warm/cold
Light/dark
Proportional
Windowlike, random. I added black with photoshop. I really like the way it makes the colours Pop from the backgroung
Windowlike

Colour study

I have done several different colourstudies of my material and finally decided on this one. I like the purplish blue in combination with the off-whites and reds.
I made many different patches, each 15 x 15 cm. I used neocolor in combination with acrylics and gesso.

SHAPE and pattern recording

Unfortunately I lost all of my pics whilst reorganizing my BLOG. I hope I recovered most of them. The labeling is not perfect I'm afraid
